Ginger signs up.......

1/16/2011:  Receive phone call from Tad, Asst Mgr of Food and Beverage, at the Lodge.  He hires me to work in the warehouse, as a receiving. and stock clerk.  This is the type position I was wanting.  No more
management for this ole guy!

2/17/2011:  Ginger decides she does want to come...think, healing from our car accident on 12/26, where she broke 2 ribs, made her cautious about the big Adventure. Also, alot of friends from the Rec Center, some widows, told her not to miss this great opportinity.  I called Tad and he said he had an opening for a Cashier in their coffee shop in the main lobby. That was perfect!

Since I am working in supply, we start a week early to stock the restuarants. etc (then return a week after the lodge closes to visitors).  Tad called back a couple days later, and found Ginger could work at the dorms setting up the rooms. Ideal, we could fly together!   Here is the small town we'll be in:

How it began.......

Our hairstylist, Christina Beck and her husband, went on a Princess Cruise to Alaska, around 2009.  She told me, Ernie, how she saw college students and retirees working for Princess in various jobs on the railroad, port, and lodges.  This was very intriguinging to me.  I researched it, and became very well versed in Alaska summer job opportunities, ie: Princess Cruise, National Parks, etc.  I found Princess Cruises to have the best deal, because they offerred very reasonable housing, and reasonable pay.  So this year, after deciding to be fully retired, I applied for a summer job at the Princess Cruise Denali Wilderness Lodge
