Moving Out Day

6:00 am:  Up and at'em!
Strip the bed, finish packing, and cleaning. Turn in linens, uniforms, and ID's. Get room inspected, signed off!
LOTS OF TEARY GOOD-BYES

Fellow warehouse Grunt Larry, has agreed to drive us to Anchorage. He is going there to live. His daughter lives there. He may get a job too. Larry is formerly from Sacramento, Ca
Please buy Larry's book, About Larry, from lulu.com
Larry's Grandaughter Sara has been working at DPWL all summer too.

We agree to have a fresh egg breakfast at Totem Inn before leaving Healy for the last time.

As we depart, its a drizzly rain. Its a 4 hour drive down HWY 3.  Wow, "civilization!!!" hollers Sara.
Stop lights, Target, Walmart, fast food..things we haven't seen in 5 months.

Anchorage is nice! Larry takes us directly to our hotel, The North Star Inn, at Elmendorf Air Force Base

Though the Inn is actually an old barracks building, it is totally remodelled. We are very pleasantly suprised with our room. Its a suite! A sitting room with couch, flat screen tv, 2 microwaves, 2 frigs, beautiful furniture.
We walk across the street to the bowling alley, and have a pizza at Godfather's Pizza (thank you Herman Caine). Its our 1st franchise pizza too.  I have my last Alaska Amber draft beer , its not sold in the Lower 48 yet.  http://www.alaskanbeer.com/home.html    Please check this website out, especially the video on the HISTORY page.

I look out the room window to see C-17's and F-18's landing...hoping we'll be on a C-17 in 2 days.

We relax and prepare for an exciting day tomorrow.
